Sin can make you physically sick and lead to insanity!

Heart attack, depression, anxiety, delusion.

Introduction:

  1. All mental illness is a behaviour choice not a bodily disease. All the behaviours associated with mental illness are without exception, sins listed in the Bible. Sinful living choices can lead to further sinful emotional choices like depression and anxiety, which then become the basis of a mental illness label (diagnosis) by atheistic chemical psychiatrists. Jesus commanded us not to be anxious and a "depressed Christian" is an oxymoron, considering the great joy of possessing the reward and blessing of eternal life in heaven.
  2. The behaviours associated with mental illness are solutions to personal problems. Once you have check-listed the behaviours, simply ask, "What personal benefit does the person derive from these behaviours". The label of schizophrenia is applied to those who choose to become delusional and paranoid. Delusion is the sin of deception or lying and paranoia is usually pure narcissism mixed with delusions of grandeur. Schizophrenia, therefore, is a sinful solution to personal problems and provides a benefit. Here is a list of benefits a person gains by choosing "mental illness" behaviours.
  3. It is well documented that sin can make you physically sick. Guilt and stress, for example, can cause a heart attack as well as insomnia which can, over time, wear down the immune system and lead to an infinite number of diseases.
  4. Sinful choices in response to everyday life situations can also lead to a person even choosing delusion and paranoia (insanity) as a behaviour solution to their personal problems. The behaviour choices that lead to insanity include protracted anger, protracted "love sickness", protracted anxiety over financial loss etc. These sinful behaviour choices can lead someone to then choose to appear disabled and become dependent. Love lost and financial loss are just two of many problems that insanity solves. In this way, the behaviours associated with insanity actually provide benefits to the "mental patient". Psychiatrists always view these behaviours as being driven by body chemicals. The Christian, however, knows that there is no behaviour for which we will not be held accountable for on judgment day, proving all behaviour is the result of freewill choice of the human spirit.
  5. This outline focuses on Bible passages that say sin will make you physically sick and drive you to choose to mental illness as a solution to problems suffered.
  6. It is important to remember that when a preacher's wife, for example, has a secret affair, this creates a serious emotional conflict and a very bad conscience. In the 1960's the term "cognitive dissonance" was invented to describe the effect of a bad conscience without giving any credit to God who revealed it clearly in the Bible 2000 years ago. While such a sinning adulteress puts on the angel act in church every Sunday, it creates a never ending conflict within. The person seeks a solution to their own hypocrisy which often leads them to choose insanity as the only open door where they find comfort and relief from the bad conscience. Living in their own fantasy world, the schizophrenic can then find inner peace through self-delusion.
  7. The bible makes it very clear that insanity, depression, anxiety, stress, paranoia are the punishments for living a sinful rebellious life contrary to the moral pattern revealed by God in the Bible. Remember, insanity is not a bodily disease, it is a behaviour choice. The only "cure" of insanity, is repentance of the sinful lifestyle and the sinful behaviour choices to solve the problems such a sinful lifestyle creates.

A. Bible passages that prove sin can make you sick, depressed and anxious:

Click to ViewI accept that if my life is full of willful sin, that I will suffer hurt and harm without realizing the cause of my unhappiness is the sin itself. I realize that the greatest obstacle to solving my own problems, is admitting my own person contribution to those problems. I realize that if my life is "on fire" and I am unhappy and I do not attend church every Sunday, that I am most likely suffering the consequences of being a non-Christian.

B. The mind can make the body sick: "Vasovagal episodes"

  1. Medicine has thoroughly documented how the mind can make the body physically sick. The way a person thinks can lead to a real medical disease even death. Likewise, all the behaviours of mental illness are caused by the mind, not a chemical imbalance in the brain. All behaviour is the result of a choice of the human spirit.
  2. Nurses are very familiar with the fainting that is induced by the mind at the thought of getting a needle.
  3. Vasovagal episodes are where the thought of getting a needle or the sight or discussion of blood can trigger fainting.
    1. A student was sitting in grade 10 health class in high school, where the components of blood were begin discussed including some photos. He put his hand up and asked to be excused from the class to get a drink at the fountain just outside the classroom door. The teacher, having just observed that the student was in perfect condition, assumed the request was frivolous and refused. The student obediently sat in his chair for a few more minutes, then got up and ran out of the class, sipped a drink, then fainted on the floor of the hallway.
    2. This was not an example of faking, but a very real physiological reaction induced by the mind. Interesting, that this reaction to blood was present in three generations of males in the same family. Stories were told how the grandfather fainted in the bathtub when he cut his own finger in the kitchen with a knife and drew a bit of blood. His son would faint at getting needles and the sight or discussion of blood.
    3. The grandson, aware of the history of the grandfather and father, would lapse into rather extreme "panic like" attacks when TV programs like ET or Emergency were on.
    4. All these reactions were overcome in time by just controlling the mind.
  4. Since the very thought of getting a needle or seeing blood can trigger a shock like episode in the body, this serves as undeniable proof that the mind can make the body sick.
  5. Whereas a "vasovagal episode" is not a sinful behaviour, sin can make the body sick as well, through the same mechanism.
  6. There is clear scientific proof that the human spirit can altar brain chemistry!

C. Delusion and mental illness can be caused by violating the conscience:

  1. Detailed study on the conscience.
  2. When we violate our conscience, we get a bad feeling. This bad feeling has the power to tear the mind in two leading to delusion and a diagnosis of schizophrenia.
  3. Chemical psychiatry uses drugs to take away the bad feeling that results from violating your conscience. It is like the engine warning light coming on in your car and the psychiatrist disconnects the light bulb. Sure the bad feeling is gone for the few hours the drugs kick in, but it has not fixed the problem. Repentance not drugs will cure such schizophrenics whose sin led them into delusion as a solution to the pain their consciences were causing them.
  4. Christianity fixes the problem through repentance and confession and the warning light goes out!

D. The psychopath and the conscience:

  1. A psychopath is anyone who has made themselves their own standard of authority. Evolutionary theory, atheism and humanism have created fertile ground for a large crop of psychopaths to germinate, grow and come to maturity. Most of them are not really dangerous, but they have adopted their own personal version of morals and made themselves their own god. Whatever they have decided is ok to do, is ok to do! They can murder, and it doesn't bother them because after all, they kill mosquitoes and rats and cows all the time. Man is just another animal.
  2. Psychopaths not only believe in the theory of evolution, they have understood its implications for the purpose and meaning of the existence of man. Since there is no God, then all morals are determined by the collective agreement of mankind. There really is no such thing as right or wrong, since sin is defined by a God they do not believe in. Sure society has rules, taboos etc, but they are smart enough and perceptive enough to notice that these rules are changing. Whereas adultery and deviant sex was once a capital offence, today it is openly promoted. A psychopath is someone who is lived in a time when adultery was a capital offence, but was able to look ahead to the present time when he realized adultery would be the norm and accepted without consequence. Living in a time when adulterers were stoned in the public square, they are able to look forward to the present time when TV commercial openly say, "Life is short, Live it up, Have an affair, Call us today."
  3. Psychopaths, therefore, are usually quite intelligent, philosophical and think "outside the box". A psychopath is able to do things others view as wrong and it does not bother them because they believe that whatever they have personally decided is right, is right and they don't care if others have determined it is wrong.
  4. Criminal psychopaths generally do not suffer from depression, anxiety or delusion because they believe murder and cannibalism is the right thing to do. Since they believe there really is no right or wrong, there is almost nothing they can do to cause their conscience to give them a bad feeling.
  5. Contrary to popular myth, psychopaths have a conscience that is as healthy as any Christian. They have simply trained their conscience that all behaviour they do is right and nothing they do is wrong.
  6. Applying this to the general public, we can clearly understand why non-Christians are never driven to delusion by secretly having an affair behind their spouses back or living common law. Whereas they understand the social consequences of such adultery, they do not think it is wrong, per se. Therefore non-Christians will live in the sin of common law in a totally good conscience, whereas a Christian would experience internal conflict and a bad conscience.
  7. Detailed study of psychopaths and sociopaths.

E. Healing comes from repentance & confession:

  1. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your body And refreshment to your bones. " Proverbs 3:5-8

2. "Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. " James 5:14-16

3.      "For the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having pursued a course of sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties and abominable idolatries. In all this, they are surprised that you do not run with them into the same excesses of dissipation, and they malign you; but they will give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. " (1 Peter 4:3-5)

Conclusion:

  1. The Bible is clear that sin can cause physical disease and make a person to become depressed, anxious and delusional (mental illnesses).
  2. It is dangerous for us to violate our conscience because after a time, we harden our conscience and we feel no pain any longer. This is why people admitted to mental hospitals will recover on their own, if they are not given any drugs to interfere with this natural process of destroying the conscience. After the pain is gone, the behaviours of insanity no longer are needed as a solution and they chose to give up these behaviours and return to "normal" behaviour.
  3. When people diagnosed (by their behaviour choices) as "mentally ill" confess their sins to Jesus and repent of their sinful lives and put their faith and trust in God, they will be almost instantly "cured" of their mental illness by changing their behaviours.
  4. Why not visit a good, Bible believing our local church in your own home town where you can learn how God wants you to live free of sin and the hurt and harm that results from such sinful living.
