Review:

The Four Revelation verses:

Two verses in the first chapter of Revelation

"The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must shortly take place" Rev 1:1

"Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near." Rev 1:3

Two verses in the last chapter of Revelation

"the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent His angel to show to His bond-servants the things which must shortly take place." Rev 22:6

"Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near." Rev 22:10

On what basis do people teach Revelation is only for the 20th century???

Important thought:

If God wanted to tell us that the prophecies within Revelation were for first & second century Christians, can you think of a clearer more concise way that he could describe it than these four verses?

Does Revelation only prophecy future events?

The Bible says:

"Write therefore the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall take place after these things." Rev 1:19

Question:

How many time periods does Revelation's message discuss?

One time period: Only the distant future, 2000 AD

Two time periods: The present and the future

Three time periods: The past, present and the future.

Lets look closer!

"Write therefore the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall take place after these things." Rev 1:19

Summary of Rev 1:9:

  1. Past: "Write the things which you have seen"
  2. Present: "Write the things which are"
  3. Future: "Write the things which shall take place after these things"

Only part of Revelation dealt with prophecy

I disagree, Revelation is totally a book of future prophecy!
