"Then they shall bring all your brethren from all the nations as a grain offering to the Lord, on horses, in chariots, in litters, on mules and on camels, to My holy mountain Jerusalem," says the Lord, "just as the sons of Israel bring their grain offering in a clean vessel to the house of the Lord. "I will also take some of them for priests and for Levites," says the Lord. "For just as the new heavens and the new earth Which I make will endure before Me," declares the Lord, "So your offspring and your name will endure. "And it shall be from new moon to new moon And from sabbath to sabbath, All mankind will come to bow down before Me," says the Lord. "Then they will go forth and look On the corpses of the men Who have transgressed against Me. For their worm will not die And their fire will not be quenched; And they will be an abhorrence to all mankind." (Isaiah 66:20-24)
"For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the former things will not be remembered or come to mind. "But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create; For behold, I create Jerusalem for rejoicing And her people for gladness. "I will also rejoice in Jerusalem and be glad in My people; And there will no longer be heard in her The voice of weeping and the sound of crying. "No longer will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, Or an old man who does not live out his days; For the youth will die at the age of one hundred And the one who does not reach the age of one hundred Will be thought accursed." (Isaiah 65:17-20)

Sabbatarians use Isa 66:23 to prove the Sabbath will be kept in heaven:

A. Isa 66:23 and Isa 65:17 actually speaking in metaphoric terms about Christians in the church after the cross and before resurrection.

Both passages speak of a new heavens and a new earth that represent the church. The new heavens and earth of Isa 65 & 66 are different from the New heavens and New earth spoken of in the New Testament. Sabbatarians see the expression "New heavens and new earth" Isa 65:17; 66:22 and assume it is post resurrection heaven. This is their primary error, and we can prove it!

B. Here are Six things in Sabbatarian heaven the contradicts the Bible: Weekly Sabbath, New Moon Festival, the moon, night, death at age 100, sinners:

  1. If Isa 66:23 teaches that we will keep the Jewish Sabbath in heaven, then it also teaches we will keep the Jewish New Moon festival in heaven! What proves too much proves nothing at all! "And it shall be from new moon to new moon, and from Sabbath to Sabbath, all mankind will come to bow down before Me, says the Lord" Isa 66:23. Sabbatarians have the Jewish new moon festival in heaven: Isa 66:23? No! Abolished Col 2:16
  2. If Isa 66:23 teaches that we will keep the Jewish Sabbath in heaven, then it also teaches in Isa 66:21 that the Levitical priests will be in heaven, because it is also mentioned. Sabbatarians have Levitical priests in heaven: Isa 66:21? No! Priesthood changed Heb 7:12.
  3. Sabbatarians have night in heaven Isa 66:23? (new moons require night) No! Revelation says there is no night in heaven. Rev. 21: 23; 22:5. You cannot have "new moon to new moon" without day and night!
  4. Is. 65:20: What kind of heaven would it be where the child dies at 100? (See Rev. 21:4, 27; 22:14,15)
  5. Is. 65:20: Are there sinners in heaven? If you die at age 75 you are an accursed sinner?
  6. Weekly Sabbath was abolished, in Col 2:14-16, you cannot use Isa 66 to prove the sabbath is for today!

C. Yet the text cannot be speaking of eternal life after resurrection. It is actually speaking in metaphoric terms about Christians in the church after the cross and before resurrection:

Compare Isa 66:23 and Col 2:16: Sabbatarian are masters of switching terms and meanings whenever they get in trouble!

According to Sabbatarians:

SABBATH

Definitely not weekly Sabbath in Col 2:14

Definitely weekly Sabbath in Isa 66:22

NEW MOON

Definitely new moon feast in Col 2:14

definitely not new moon feast in Isa 66:22

D. Even if Isa 66 was speaking of heaven (which it is not) there are some things in the church, that will not be in heaven:

  1. Lord's Supper in church, but not in heaven.
  2. Water baptism in church, but not in heaven.
  3. Marriage in church, but not in heaven. Heb. 13:4

E. Sabbatarians argue that "from new moon to new moon" is not a reference to the monthly Jewish New moon festival. But there is no example of this kind of usage in the Bible. New moon obviously did indicate time passing from month to month, but IT ALWAYS was connected to the Jewish festival:

  1. "Bring your worthless offerings no longer, Incense is an abomination to Me. New moon and sabbath, the calling of assemblies— I cannot endure iniquity and the solemn assembly. "I hate your new moon festivals and your appointed feasts, They have become a burden to Me; I am weary of bearing them. " (Isaiah 1:13-14)
  2. "So David said to Jonathan, "Behold, tomorrow is the new moon, and I ought to sit down to eat with the king. But let me go, that I may hide myself in the field until the third evening. " (1 Samuel 20:5) "Then Jonathan said to him, "Tomorrow is the new moon, and you will be missed because your seat will be empty. " (1 Samuel 20:18) [comment: The test would be Saul's response to David's absence from the New Moon feast (v. 5), held on the first day of every month (Num. 28:11-15). If Saul became upset about David's absence, then David would know that there was no hope of patching up their differences. (Bible Knowledge commentary)]
  3. "He said, "Why will you go to him today? It is neither new moon nor sabbath." And she said, "It will be well." " (2 Kings 4:23)
  4. "and to offer all burnt offerings to the Lord, on the sabbaths, the new moons and the fixed festivals in the number set by the ordinance concerning them, continually before the Lord. " (1 Chronicles 23:31)
  5. "Blow the trumpet at the new moon, At the full moon, on our feast day. " (Psalm 81:3)
  6. "When will the new moon be over, So that we may sell grain, And the sabbath, that we may open the wheat market, To make the bushel smaller and the shekel bigger, And to cheat with dishonest scales, " (Amos 8:5)
  7. The fact remains, that there is no valid reason any Sabbatarian can give why this IS NOT most naturally means, "from one new moon feast to another new moon feast".

F. New moon is just another Jewish feast used in a yearly, monthly, weekly sequence!

When God wanted to refer to the whole system of Jewish holy days, rather than name them all, He would refer to the yearly, monthly and weekly as representing the whole system. Sabbatarians argue that the Sabbath Day of Col 2:16 is the years Sabbaths. But yearly Sabbaths were already referred to in Col 2:16 as "festivals". The "Year, Month Week" pattern is so well established in the Old Testament, that Col 2:16 must refer to the weekly Sabbath. Notice, even Gal 4:10, following this pattern, states the weekly Sabbath is abolished!
