"Perseverance of the Saints"
(or "eternal security" or "once saved always saved")
Defining Eternal security
A. The doctrine of "eternal security" is the last of the 5 major points of
Calvinism which are known by the acronym: T.U.L.I.P. Most evangelical
denominations teach "eternal security" as their official doctrine from
their creed.
B. The testimony of those who embrace this false teaching:
In Aug 5, 2009 George Sodini, 48, of Scott Township, Pa. who opened
fire on an exercise class of women in a Pittsburgh gym, killing three
people and himself. He wrote in his blog just before committing the sin of
murder: "I need to remain focused and absorbed COMPLETELY. Last time I
tried this, in January, I chickened out. Lets see how this new approach
works. Maybe soon, I will see God and Jesus. At least that is what I was
told. Eternal life does NOT depend on works. If it did, we will all be in
hell. Christ paid for EVERY sin, so how can I or you be judged BY GOD for a
sin when the penalty was ALREADY paid. People judge but that does not
matter. I was reading the Bible and The Integrity of God beginning
yesterday, because soon I will see them.
Sam Morris, Baptist preacher in Stamford, TX wrote an article
entitled, "Do A Christian's sins damn his souls"? Here is a quote from the
article: "We take the position that a Christian's sins do not damn his
soul. The way a Christian lives, what he says, his character, his conduct,
or his attitude toward other people have nothing whatever to do with the
salvation of his souls...And all the sins he may commit from murder to
idolatry will not make his soul in any more danger.
Bill Foster, Baptist preacher in Louisville KY made this comment:
"If I killed my wife and mother and debauched a thousand women I couldn't
go to hell--in fact, I couldn't go to hell if I wanted to."
Although these statements appear repulsive, they genuinely represent
the official view of most evangelical churches.
C. The Bible clearly teaches that a Christian/blood bought believer/ one
who has his sins forgiven, can sin so as to be lost and cast into hell.
