3: The canon of the Bible: A conservative, bible believing perspective ...
New Testament Canon, not the church. God, not men decided the canon. This providence does not mean that church leaders were inspired in their selecting the canon, only that God had his eye on the scriptures the whole time and brought about His will to form the Bible we see today! A conservative, bible believing perspective! 1. 100AD: All 27 books of the New Testament were in circulation and all but Hebrews, 2 Peter, James, 2 Jn, 3 Jn, Revelation were universally accepted. 2. 100-400 AD: 6 "disputed" books accepted. A number of other books were read in a few churches at various times: Shepherd of Hermas, 1 Clement, Didache, Epistle of Barnabas, Wisdom of Solomon, Apocalypse of Peter. Introduction: 1. The Word Bible is from Greek, biblia and is found twice in scripture: a. I, Daniel, observed in the books (or Bible) [Greek: biblia] the number of the years which was revealed as the word of the Lord to Jeremiah the prophet for the completion of the desolations of Jerusalem, namely, seventy ... ...

See also: The Exodus route proven from the Bible. See also: The Chronological History of "The search for Kadesh" Panorama photo gallery of Israel Alphabetic list of all panorama photographs Introduction: The exodus Route has about 50 stops and traverses 7 wildernesses. If we used the Bible exclusively, we can know only 3 of the of the 50 exodus stops for certain: Goshen, Ezion Geber, Mt. Nebo. Of the 7 wilderness areas Israel passed through, we only know one for certain: Wilderness of Shur. The search for the exodus route has produced many different options: Mt. Sinai (18 different locations) The Red Sea crossing point (7 locations) and Kadesh Barnea (16 locations). Most of these options can be ruled out because they conflict with scripture. Paul said in Gal 4:25, that Mt. Sinai is in Arabia. This is a huge problem for those who believe Mt. Sinai is located at Mt. Musa in the middle of the Sinai Peninsula. First they argue that the Sinai Peninsula is not controlled by Egypt or part of ... ...

5: Borot Loz Fortress: One of Solomon's network of military border ...
Meshel and Tsafrir 1974. The situation described by no means implies that there was no connection between the fortresses and roads (Finkelstein 1984: 190). The location of some fortresses, such as the Aharoni fortress and Nahal Loz, cannot be explained otherwise. 6: Ein Haseva Fortress: One of Solomon's network of military border ...
Negev through Ein Haseva, to the heartland of the promised land. It matters not that we reject this as the location for the Ascent of Akrabbim, for the fact remains that this was an ancient route used from the time of Solomon. Although it is a possible location for the Ascent of Akrabbim, there is a better transjordan choice, on the east side of the Arabah valley. The same kind of Negevite war pottery is found most of the border fortresses. The ambivalence of archeologists to use this crude ancient hand made pottery in establishing a specific date, like wheel made pottery, does not change the fact that if the site was built by Solomon, we would expect to find Negevite war. The absence, not the presence of this pottery is what would disqualify Solomon as the builder. The key here, is that the modern choice of Kadesh Barnea located at Qudeirat, is clearly wrong. For all of Solomon's border fortresses share so much in common, that none of them were in existence during the Exodus at 1446 ... ...

7: Ein El Qedeis: "Piltdown Kadesh" Kadesh Barnea: 1881 - 1916 AD
Its looks the same today. Introduction: Ein Qedeis means "Holy Fountain". (ein = spring; Qedeis = holy) Qedeis also known as Kadis or Kades. Ein which is sometimes spelled ain, means "spring". John Rowlands goes down in history as the man who plunged the search for Kadesh Barnea in to the "Dark Ages" (1881 AD - present). But Ein Qedeis would be just another desert spring without Henry Clay Trumbull who is responsible for literally deceiving the entire world into believing it was Kadesh Barnea. The "one-two punch" of Rowland-Trumbull moved the worlds attention for the location of Kadesh from the Transjordan Arabah to where it has been presently located on all Bible maps since 1916 AD. There are actually two Kadesh's in the Bible. Transjordan Kadesh Barnea in the negev where Israel spent 38 years from 1445-1407 BC (barnea = wilderness). One located north of Israel in Syria: (Kadesh on the Orontes) "Then they came to Gilead and to Kadesh in the land of Tahtim-hodshi, and they came to ... ...

Tel el-Dab'a to the Suez Canal. The lakes were a major food supply of fish for the Hebrew like the Sea of Galilee. It is likely therefore, that the entire shoreline was surrounded and occupied by Hebrews. While Ballah lake and Timsah lake are is 40 km east of Tel el-Dab'a, both lakes were entirely inside the land of Goshen. b. This has devastating consequences for those who propose a Red Sea crossing at either the Ballah lake or Timsah lake. Imagine the entire lake is surround by Hebrew tents and suddenly Moses brings them to the western shore and parts the sea. On the other side, several of the Hebrews likely ran inside their houses to grab a few more things for the trip to Mt. Sinai! It is impossible for the Hebrews to be trapped at these freshwater lakes. 4. Digging up Bible stories! "I received tribute from Ahaz of Judah, Edom, Ammon, Moab" Detailed outline on Edom. Introduction: This inscription was found on a wall written on a clay surface. From a building inscription on clay preserved in various copies, published by Rawlinson : Cuneiform Inscriptions of Western Asia, H.C. Rawlinson, Bd. II, plate 67, lines 56-63, 1861 AD This inscription documents the conquest of Tiglath-Pileser III, also known as Pul, in 723 BC. The Bible story told in the inscription: 2 Ki 16:5-18; 2 Chron 28:20 "For the Lord humbled Judah because of Ahaz king of Israel, for he had brought about a lack of restraint in Judah and was very unfaithful to the Lord. So Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria came against him and afflicted him instead of strengthening him. 12: The Kenites and the Kenite Territory
The Kenites are a sect of Midianites. The Kenites were descendents of Jethro the Midianite (Moses father in law) and their traditional territory was near Midian: Judges 1:16 The Midianites and the Ishmaelites intermarried and became one sect that were indistinguishable at the time Joseph was sold into Egyptian slavery in 1893 BC. They lived in the mountains near Midian: Numbers 24:20-21. The Kenites lived in the mountains and with the Amalekites: 1 Samuel 15:6-7 Moses asked Hobab the son of Reuel the Midianite to live be his scout from the Sinai area. In exchange, Moses promised land. The Kenites settled in the southern part of Judah: "wilderness of Judah which is in the south of Arad" Judges 1:16. This was close to the Kenites ancestral homeland of Midian "Then Moses said to Hobab the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses' father-in-law, "We are setting out to the place of which the Lord said, 'I will give it to you'; come with us and we will do you good, for the Lord has promised good ... ...

18: The real Pool of Siloam discovered in 2004 AD
The Hebrew word "Siloam" means "sent". Pool of the Sent. This is interesting because Jesus "Sent" the blind man to this pool to be healed. Josephus often references the pool of Siloam. He said it was located at the end "Valley of the Cheesemongers" or the Tyropoeon Valley (Josephus, Wars 5.4.1). He also said it was outside the city wall (Josephus, Wars 5.9.4) at a place where the old wall bent to the east (towards the rising sun) (Wars 5.6.1), but also facing the hill upon which was a rock called "Peristereon", which was further East (Josephus, Wars 5.12.2). Josephus was liking making reference to the present Birket Silwan, on the other side of the Kidron valley. The pool of Siloam is fed by a conduit that is cut for a distance of 1,780 feet through solid rock, and which starts at the so-called Virgin's Spring (En-rogel). The reason for which it was cut is unmistakable. The Virgin's Spring is the only spring of fresh water in the immediate neighborhood of Jerusalem, and in time of ... ...

Rejecting the Bible's statement that Edom was a sophisticated organized nation of domesticated shepherds at the time of the Exodus. For cure see: Edom A. The cure for Hittitus first found in Boghazkoy! At the turn of the century, skeptics viewed the Bible as myth rather than real world history . For example, the Bible makes over 40 references to the great Hittite Empire. You see, 100 years ago, no archaeological evidence had ever been found to prove it really did exist. "Just another Bible myth!" skeptics charged in an attempt to destroy our faith in the Bible. This, however, cannot be said today, for in 1906, Hugo Winckler uncovered a library of 10,000 clay tablets. These ancient records fully documented the long lost Hittite Empire and confirmed the reliability of the Bible. Later excavations uncovered Boghazkoy, the capital city of this "mythical" empire. These discoveries not only authenticate Scripture, but also illuminate many aspects of biblical culture. Abraham's purchase of ... ...

20: Coins of the New Testament that Jesus and the apostles used
...The drachma is an unusual coin of Christ's time. The Roman denarius has long replaced the Seleucid/Greek silver coins and was their equivalent. It has been thought that perhaps the coin (mentioned only in Luke 15:8) was a Cappadocian drachma, bearing Tiberius' bust, since these coins have been found in Palestine and were contemporary with Jesus' story of the woman and her lost coin. I feel however, that the coin was Seleucid. Jesus' reference seems to be to a bride's dowry portion retained from a wedding. Such coins would be passed from mother to daughter and would explain both the presence of a coin no longer in current circulation and the woman's desperation." From the Island of Cypress, this pottery was key to proving the location of Jericho. Description: Click to View Discussion: Although Kathleen Kenyon made great contributions to controlled stratigraphic excavation techniques, she was above all A BIBLE HATING SKEPTIC. Pottery is one of the key methods of dating an ancient ruined city and Kenyon had no training or experience in reading pottery. In fact, in her final report, she devoted a single short paragraph to pottery. Kathleen Kenyon rejected the Bible story of Joshua causing the walls of Jericho to fall based primarily on pottery. She never found Cypriot pottery herself and she misread the pottery she did find by over 150 years too early. Kathleen Kenyon excavated Jericho in the 1950's and concluded that the walls fell 150 years before the Bible says they did in 1600 BC because she had no training in reading late Bronze pottery and she ignored the fact that Garstang found imitation Cypriotware in his excavations in the 1920's. Coins and pottery from the Persian era not only confirm details revealed in the Bible, they sometimes give us some important information about the Judean governors and other details, that are not revealed in the Bible! The King of Persia had appointed a "prince" or "governor" from among the returning Jews. 32: Gilgal
Possibly Biblical Gilgal. The site enclosed by a wall on this long, oval hill overlooking the Wadi Far'ah is known to the Arabs as el 'Unuq (the necklace). Zertal suggests that it may be the Gilgal mentioned in Deuteronomy 11:30 as a reference point for the location of Mt. Ebal and Mt. Gerizim. Apparently unnoticed by archaeologists until examined by the author in 1985, the site features a nearly 6-foot-wide wall of unworked stones enclosing an area measuring 800 feet by 500 feet. A possible inner wall divides the enclosure into a one-third portion in the northern (far) end and a two-thirds portion in the southern (near) end. One of the site's most intriguing features, which the author hopes to excavate some day, is a stone pile positioned on the long axis in the southern portion. The ribbon of greenery behind the hill marks the course of the fertile Wadi Far'ah, which links the sites of Shechem, Mt. Ebal and Tell Far'ah North (Tirzah) to the Jordan River. 37: Solomon's Fortress at Elat, Aqaba: Tell el-Kheleifeh and Jezirat ...
Red Sea, in the land of Edom, very near Elat. Both Elat and Ezion Geber are located at the north end of the Gulf of Aqaba. One of the critical factors of Ezion-Geber, is that it was one stop before the 11 day journey from Mt. Sinai to Kadesh Barnea (Deut 1:2), by way of Mt. Seir. Mt. Sinai located at Jebel Al-Lawz in modern Saudi Arabia and Kadesh Barnea located at or near Petra fits perfectly, given they would pass right by Mt. Seir, the seat of transjordan Edomite territory. Ezion-geber, like Kadesh itself, must be on the edge of Edom's land. Archeologically, it can be proven that Edom was almost entirely transjordan until the time of the Babylonian captivity of 586 BC. This places Ezion-geber on the east side of Elat, not the west. If archeologists had merely read the Bible, they would have used it as a guide to look in the right place. "The first one to suggest the identification of Ezion-geber with Tell el-Kheleifeh was Fritz Frank. The small low mound is located approximately in ... ...

...Early Edom And Moab, Egyptian evidence on Ancient Jordan; K. A. Kitchen, Editor: Piotr Bienkowski, 1992 AD) The Egyptian Evidence on Ancient Jordan K.A. Kitchen The written historical sources for the lands of the Jordan plateau, between rift valley and outer desert, come for periods before c. 1000 BC almost entirely from pharaonic Egypt, seconded by a limited amount of biblical tradition. Thereafter, Egyptian sources fade, and it is only from the 9th/8th centuries BC that indigenous ancient Jordanian sources and reports from Mesopotamia carry forward the story, still with biblical contributions. Non-literary archaeological data round out the picture. We shall review the Egyptian data chronologically. Early 2nd millennium BC We begin this early - as compactly as possible - to lay the foundations for later epochs. There are now three series of Egyptian 'Execration Texts' that list lands and rulers on both sides of the Jordan: the Mirgissa series (Koenig 1990:111-112) of c. 1870 BC (at ... ...

39: The Fortress of Antonia was built on the Rock under the Dome ...
Fortress of Antonia as described by Josephus. (Wars 5.238-247) Antonia's Fort was located south of a moat and on a rock 25 meters high. It was located exactly where the Dome of the Rock is today. The Temple would therefore be located 17 meters below the Al-Kas fountain. Joesphus describes Antonia's fortress as pictured above. Josephus' dimensions are 115 m from East to West, Western side 35 m and Eastern side 42 m, with four towers. The rock on which the fortress was built was 50 cubits high (22-31 m). The height of the fortress itself was 40 cubits (18-25 m.) and it had 4 towers, one in each corner. The height of three of the towers was 50 cubits and the fourth tower was 70 cubits: "Now, as to the tower of Antonia, it was situated at the corner of two cloisters of the court of the temple; of that on the west, and that on the north; it was erected upon a rock, of fifty cubits in height, and was on a great precipice; it was the work of king Herod, wherein he demonstrated his natural ... ...

The Meeting Point: Why is the tunnel S-shaped? R. A. S. Macalister said the tunnel was a "pathetically helpless piece of engineering." Henry Sulley in 1929 first suggested that Hezekiah's tunnel followed a natural crack in the rock. Dan Gill argues that the two crews of diggers followed a natural karstic dissolution channel. D. 42: Solomon's network of military border fortresses in the Negev
Biblical and archeological point of view. It is clear that Pharaoh Shishak destroyed the fortresses in 924 BC. We even have his account etched into the stone at Temple of Amon in Karnak. (see below) Since we know that the fortresses had a short occupation life, this fits perfectly with Solomon as the builder just 26 years earlier. The opinion on the builder and dates of these fortresses varies depending on the bias of the archeologist and fall into two categories: Those who believe the Bible and those who do not. Basically, those archeologists who believe the Bible attribute these 50 fortresses to Solomon in 950 BC. Those archeologists who say Solomon and David are mostly a myth, will attribute dates before or after David/Solomon, but fight hard to avoid any suggestion that confirms the historicity of David/Solomon as revealed in the Bible. Arabah describes two different areas in the Bible: 1. Southern Arabah: the valley between the Red sea and the Dead sea. 2.
