377: Is Suicide an answer to life's problems?
My parents are always saying 'Do this,' 'Don't do that' and they never help me know how to do it." Problems such as these cause us many times to question what is really good about life. There is an answer to hopelessness, anger, that feeling of not belonging, and depression which might be causing you to think about attempting to kill yourself. You are not alone with these feelings, for 40,000 people commit suicide in America every year. About midnight on a night last October, Lori, 16, took a handful of pills at the home of a neighbor. In a southern city a 10-year old boy was sent to him room to write 200 times he would not fight with his brother again. In a short while he hung himself on a door in his room. In Sarasota, Florida, a TV personality took a .38 caliber revolver and shot herself on live TV. Suicide is a way that hundreds of people choose to end their life, thinking that they have chosen the "easy way" out. There is an answer! And I am happy that you have called and asked ... ...

Hazael, king of Aram (841-800 BC) Tel Dan "House of David" Inscription Victory Stele of Hazael: 841 BC References 8 different kings of the Bible! Hazael, Ben-Hadad II, Ahab, Joram, Ahaziah, Jehoram, Jehu, David The relative importance of finding 8 Bible kings on a single tablet, dwarfs the fact that it mentions the "house of David", given the fact that the Mesha stele (848 BC) and the Shishak temple (925 BC) also say "house of David". The victory Stele of Hazael therefore, is one of the most important archeological finds ever because it lists 8 different kings listed in the Bible and evidences 3-5 different Bible stories that happened around 941 BC. 392: Lesson 20: Preaching In Worship
... When men use the word "Reverend" in front of their name, they are taking glory and honor that belongs only to God and are trying to apply it to themselves. They might as well also call themselves God. Men try to glorify themselves with other names. Jesus in speaking in a spiritual sense says in Matthew 23:9, "Do not call anyone on earth your father; for one is your Father, He who is in heaven." Why do men in seeking to glorify themselves continue to ignore what the Lord says? Why do men want to refer to themselves as Father so and so? They want to receive glory that only belongs to God. King Herod in Acts chapter 12 took glory upon himself which belonged to God and we read in verse 23, "And immediately the angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give glory to God, and he was eaten by worms and died." Today God does not immediately deal with sin as he did then, but will deal with it in the Judgment. Claiming glory that only belongs to God is a very serious matter. But why do ... ...

395: Officail creed of Dutch/Christian/Canadian Reformed Churches
... The confession's chief author was Guido de BrŠs, a preacher of the Reformed churches of the Netherlands, who died a martyr to the faith in the year 1567. During the sixteenth century the churches in this country were exposed to the most terrible persecution by the Roman Catholic government. To protest against this cruel oppression, and to prove to the persecutors that the adherents of the Reformed faith were not rebels, as was laid to their charge, but law-abiding citizens who professed the true Christian doctrine according to the Holy Scriptures, de BrŠs prepared this confession in the year 1561. In the following year a copy was sent to King Philip II, together with an address in which the petitioners declared that they were ready to obey the government in all lawful things, but that they would "offer their backs to stripes, their tongues to knives, their mouths to gags, and their whole bodies to the fire," rather than deny the truth expressed in this confession. Although the ... ...

396: The Ascent of Akrabbim: (Ascent of Scorpions)
... Such a border definition would basically include 80% of the promised land. Its like saying, the territory of the Amorites is everything north of the southern end of the Dead Sea. So what shall we make of this? It is important to note a few things about the words in this verse. The word "upward" is common and non-specific. The word "border" is the common word for denoting territory or a border. But it is well known in the Bible that the expression "went up" or "went down" referred to elevation. For example: "Joseph went up from the Nazareth (350 meters above sea level) to Bethlehem (600 m)" Luke 2:4. And again: "Jesus went down (from Cana of Galilee 250 m) to Capernaum (-150 m), then Jesus went up to Jerusalem (750 m)." John 2:11-13. Therefore, the word, "upward" as it is used in Judges 1:36 likely refers to elevation. So when we apply this common Jewish usage of "upward" in Judges 1:36, we read the text: "The area occupied and controlled by the Amorites started in the valley of the ... ...

398: What The Death Of Christ Accomplished!
... The Christian's essence might otherwise be seasoned with pride rather than humility. THE MOMENT OF CHRIST'S DEATH The moment of the death of Christ accomplished much. It brought about the abolishment of the entire Law of Moses including the 10 commandments, simultaneously establishing the Law of Christ: Col 2:14; Heb 9:16. It established peace between Jew and Gentile, Eph 2:15 and in a most strange way even brought peace between two former political foes: Pilate and Herod, Lk 23:12. It even moved two formerly secret disciples of Jesus, Joseph and Nicodemus, to openly declare their faith in Jesus. Jn 19:38-39. But the most dramatic images of the moment Christ died are captured at the climatic statement of the centurion who witnessed the death and proclaimed, "Surely this was the Son of God". Yes, he witnessed quite a show indeed! The sky had already been darkened for the three hours PRIOR to Christ's death, Mt 27:45-46. The earth quaked, there were dead raised, the veil ripped in two ... ...

399: Burial Box of James, the Lord's Brother found!
All the details have been reported in the November/December 2002 issue of Biblical Archaeological Review. Technically, the burial box is referred to as an ossuary. The ossuary slightly trapezoid in shape with dimensions about 20 inches long, by10 inches wide, by 12 inches high. On the top of the box the inscription reads, "James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus." The paleographer at Sorbonne University in Paris (École Pratique des Hautes Études), Andre Lemaire, dated the empty box to 63 A.D. What is significant about this find, is that it is the only artifact of archeology in existence to connect the names Joseph, James and Jesus. Until now, all references to the three men have been found only in manuscripts. From 100 B.C. to 70 A.D., it was the custom of the Jews to leave their dead in a cave and come back one year later to retrieve the bones, which were de-articulated and placed in the ossuary. The box itself is one of hundreds that have been found in the area. The Geological ... ...

400: Three 3 Promises to Abraham fulfilled
... Then I answered and said, "Amen, O LORD." 5. So it is simply apostate theology to say that God did not give Israel all the land promised to Abraham. 6. Premillennialists falsely teach that Israel never got the land they were promised and that God had to bring Israel again into the land in 1948 AD, in order to fulfill his promise. This is entirely false! a. "God unconditionally promised Abraham's descendants a literal world-wide kingdom over which they would rule through their Messiah who would reign upon King David's throne...Even the animals and reptiles will lose their ferocity and no longer be carnivorous," (The Late Great Planet Earth, Hal Lindsay, p 165) b. "The nature of the blessings are earthly, territorial, and national, and have nothing to do with a spiritual church to which none of these blessings has been promised ...Christ is not now on the throne of David bringing blessings to Israel as the prophets predicted, but He is rather on His Father's throne waiting for the coming ... ...
