251: Lesson 19: Singing In Worship (Part 4)
It was not until about 775 A.D. that it was introduced again, but this time it was kept, even with many people objecting. The instrument was not accepted by many churches for many years. Even in the 13th century Thomas Aquinas, a noted Catholic scholar, wrote against its use. This showed that even by the 13th century the instrument had not gained full acceptance. Men wanted to have it their way with no regard to what God had specified. This was a departure from the faith and practice of what God has authorized. Those who have respect for the word of God should wonder why the use of mechanical instruments of music was totally unknown in the worship of the church for the first six hundred years after the New Testament was written. The word "A Capella" means singing without instrumental accompaniment. It actually means, "as done in the chapel." For the first 600 years of the church "as done in the chapel" meant singing in worship of the church without instrumental accompaniment. This is ... ...

254: Lesson 11: Our Dress In Worship
How should we dress to show respect for someone much greater than our parents, when we appear in the presence of our Lord to remember the death of our Saviour and to honor and worship God? He is the one who made us and who will determine our future in eternity. Our dress should show a moderate opinion of our own value. Our dress should be pure, proper, chaste, and decent. It should not call attention to ourselves, because it is showy, sloppy or lewd. When we worship we are actually in the presence of the Lord. He deserves only our very best. We are told in Romans 12:1, "That you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God". Do you actually think God is pleased with us when we wear immodest clothing as we present our bodies a living sacrifice in worship to Him. I think not. 277: 500 Flood stories prove Noah's Ark is real history: Epic of Gilgamesh ...
No matter what evidence you will present to atheists and Bible scoffers, they are going to say that Noah's Ark is a myth because they refuse to believe in God. Before the discovery of these tablets, atheists and Bible scoffers claimed that Noah's Ark was a myth because, they said, "if the entire world was really ... While this is a logical argument, given some of the stunningly precise details all the stories share, it is an equally logical argument that since Noah's Ark is real history, we would predict that non-biblical writers would document the event. 278: Beliefs of the Quakers (Shaking Quakers, Shakers, Friends)
... Of the Church: Christ is the Head of the Church (Col. 1:13 and 2:19). The Church is the body of Christ, the people of God. Of Worship: True worship is done in Spirit and in Truth (Jn. 4: 23,24). Of Baptism and the Lord's Supper: There is only one Baptism (Eph. 4:5). This is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit not the baptism in water (Acts 1:4,5). The Lord's Supper is also Spiritual (not with the elements of bread and wine) (Jn. 6:32-58 and Rev.3: 20). Of quaking and trembling: We must tremble at the Word of God (Isa.66: 5, Jer.33: 9). Of pacifism: Christians should not fight with carnal weapons (Matt5: 39, Lk 6:27, 28, 29, 2 Cor. 10: 3,4,5). Of oaths: ... It is required of officers of all ranks that their teaching, in public and private, shall conform to these eleven Articles of Faith. We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments were given by inspiration of God, and that they only constitute the Divine rule of Christian faith and practice. We believe that there is only one God, who is infinitely perfect, the Creator, Preserver, and Governor of all things, and who is the only proper object of religious worship. We believe that the pattern for New Testament worship is to be found in the Davidic order of worship described in the Psalms and birthed in the Tabernacle of David in the Old Testament. Within this belief is the concept that we as believers are to be spiritual priests who offer up spiritual sacrifices to God. One of the primary sacrifices is the "fruit of our lips" or our audible worship given to God (Hebrews 13:15). 290: Lesson 21: We Must Worship The Lord In His Church
Master index of 23 studies: "Determine if you worship in Spirit and Truth!" Lesson 21 We Must Worship The Lord In His Church The Lord is to be glorified by the worship He receives in His church. In Ephesians 3:21 we read, "To Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus." But how many churches does the Lord have? Jesus says in Matthew 16:18, "Upon this rock I will build My church." The word "My" shows possession and that the church belongs to Jesus. How many churches did He say He was going to build? He said, "I will build My church". The word church is singular not plural. The Lord only promised to build His one church. In Ephesians 4:4-6 there are seven ones listed: "There is one body, and one Spirit, even as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is above all, and through all, and in you all." 295: About who we are! The Interactive Bible: www.bible.ca
This is the church for which Jesus Christ shed his blood, about which the Apostles preached and the church in which the early Christians were members. Wouldn't you like to learn more about this church that was established in 33 A.D.? We feel that the solution to the vast religious division, is for the Bible to be the only source of religious authority for worship, doctrine and morality. We believe that human creeds, catechisms and statements of faith cause religious divisions because they compete with the authority of the Bible and cloud people's ability to clearly see what the Bible actually says. Churches are not divided over what is in the Bible, but what is not in the Bible. Jesus likened the Bible to the seed in the parable of the sower. We believe that if anyone plants the pure seed of the word of God, that the seed will produce exactly the same "first century church" every time. We are determined to be simply Christians.
