301: 4 Competing Views of Church Organization
The true position: True Christians follow the organization of exactly what God already revealed in the Bible. If God wanted a Patriarchal system, it would be revealed in the Bible and Set up on the Day of Pentecost. If God wanted Rome to be the all time world headquarters of the church, the first century Christians knew nothing about it and God failed to mention such in the Bible. True Christians do Bible things in Bible ways, call Bible things by Bible names and view the Bible as a complete inspired ... The Catholic position: Peter was designated by Christ be the "universal bishop" and God intended for the Bishops of Rome to be the chair of his power in succession. This of course, is contrary to the Bible and all recorded history. Such a view is as purely mythical as the Muslim view that Jesus was a Muslim and Abraham sacrificed Ishmael instead of Isaac. The Greek Orthodox position: Orthodox believers object to Rome's claim of universal authority because it is contrary to the recorded ... ...

303: Lesson 15: Weekly Observance Of The Lord's Supper
Do we really care to regularly remember the death of our Lord? People seem to be turned off by the death of Jesus and the shedding of His blood. They don't care to remember it. But it is His blood that cleanses us from our sins. As Revelation 1:5 says, "To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood." They had rather remember Him as a babe in a manger than a crucified saviour. Many people seem to be ashamed of the death of Jesus. Jesus says in Mark 8:38, "For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in His glory of His Father with His holy angels." This memorial of our Lord is called "the Lord's Supper" in 1 Corinthians 11:20 and "the Lord's table" in 1 Corinthians 10:21. In 1 Corinthians 10:16 it is referred as "the breaking of bread" and "communion". But the church in the first century met every first day of the week to observe the Lord's Supper. 304: Joel 2:28, Promise of the Father, Baptism of the Holy Spirit ...
... To neuter the miraculous out of the Comforter promise and morph it into some non-miraculous indwelling is an egregious contradiction of the context. What we see in John 14,15,16 is the miraculous, what we do not see is the non-miraculous personal indwelling. The fact that Jesus says that the Holy Spirit "will be in you [miraculously]" (John 14:17) merely echoes numerous Old Testament examples of the supernatural indwelling of the Holy Spirit. 5. The Apostles, Philip and his four daughters, Cornelius and the tongue speakers in Corinth all had: a. The personal miraculous indwelling of the Holy Spirit b. The baptism of the Holy Spirit miraculously (Acts 1:5; 11:15-16) c. The comforter/Helper miraculously d. The Gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38; 10:44-45) which simply cannot be anything BUT miraculous. 6. Stop overcomplicated a simple thing. ... Why? Nowhere does Paul so much as hint that supernatural gifts were given to the church because Christians were unable to love each other! In the miraculous age of the first century, Paul wanted them to have love and gifts (12:31; 14:1). "When the perfect comes" refers to Christ. (He is perfect & coming again) "Perfect" is neuter gender; "Christ" is always masculine gender. Does not say, "when He who is perfect comes" but "when THAT" Perfect refers to a thing, not a person and certainly not Christ. Jesus is a person, not a thing! The Greek forbids this interpretation. "Perfect" refers to the second coming or our perfection in heaven. Neither heaven nor eternity is mentioned anywhere in this context. "The church of God in Corinth" (1 Cor. 1:2); "the churches of Galatia" (Gal 1:2), and "the saints in Christ Jesus that are at Philippi." If God wanted all the ... We need also remember that global uniformity of "the name on the sign" is proof that some kind of central world government for the church exists. Such global uniformity almost always indicates denominationalism. The Bible pattern of variation in local churches is a trademark of the first century church. May we always conform to the Bible pattern, and not by a practice that has become habit by churches of the Lord's people, much less criticize local churches that practice variation in the "descriptor on ... ...

To show the folly of this literal interpretation of poetic language, if Jesus is Wisdom, then who is Prudence? "I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, And I find knowledge and discretion." Prov 8:12 Clark Carlton, and Orthodox defender, highlights that many of the recorded "church fathers" had initially interpreted the wrong view of Prov 8:22. This illustrates how the wrong view of Proverbs 8:22f was adopted and later used against those who invented it to prove Jesus was a creature. Clark Carlton explains how Justin's wrong view was used against the church: "Arius was a presbyter of the Church of Alexandria in the early fourth century. The controversy began with his interpretation of Proverbs 8:22ff., where Solomon speaks of Wisdom: The Lord created Me at the beginning of His work, the first of His acts of old (RSV). Everyone, both Orthodox and Arian, understood Wisdom to be Christ. The question was, what does this verse mean. Arius' answer was that the Logos is a creature, albeit the ... ...

328: Overlooking the Women in the Church
Many a wife has complained about her husband, "He takes care of himself first, and I am at the bottom of his priority list." When a husband overlooks the needs of his wife, there is unrest in the home. In Acts 6 there was unrest in the church because the women were being overlooked. Today, many have overlooked the great potential that women possess in the service to God. The NT is filled with examples of women being actively involved in many aspects of the gospel. 329: Sola Scriptura and the Apostolic Fathers: 200 AD: Hippolytus
... Yet the Quartodecimans wanted to "do it the way the Bible says" and maintain the 1700 year old Jewish tradition of calculating Passover on Nissan 14. But the Jewish calculation meant that Passover (Easter) fell on different days of the week and the church at Rome didn't like this and wanted Easter to always fall on a Sunday. So, contrary to scripture and tradition, they eventually outlawed Quartodeciman view with the Nicene creed. Hippolytus implies that the Quartodecimans keep all other "apostolic tradition", except for rejecting how to properly calculate Easter. Now the "Easter controversy" is an example of how man-made doctrine began to infiltrate the church which no one in the first century practiced. Yearly Easter celebrations are found neither in scripture or the apostolic fathers. What we do find in the apostolic fathers, was that every Sunday was a celebration of the resurrection of Christ. "We keep the eighth day [Sunday] with joyfulness, the day also on which Jesus rose again ... ...

Proof Apostle Paul did not keep the Sabbath these 84 times: A. The Bible no where says that Paul or ANY Christian kept the Sabbath according to the commandment after the resurrection. What we do have are frequent examples of Paul preaching to non-Christian Jews in THEIR synagogue on THEIR Sabbath day, that they are lost without Jesus! Should this surprise us? Do Sabbatarians Pastors "keep Sunday" if they preach in a Christian church on the first day of the week? B. These passages speak of Paul preaching to the non-Christian Jews in their synagogues. None of these passages, or any other in the New Testament, ever speak of Christians worshipping on the Sabbath day. If Paul preaching to Jews on the Sabbath day proves he kept the Sabbath, then it also proves Paul kept synagogue worship as well! C. 333: Trinity: Arius and the Nicene Creed
Arianism did not exist before the 4th century, but was a development of doctrine, just like Creedal Trinity Arianism, a Christian heresy first proposed early in the 4th century by the Alexandrian presbyter Arius. It affirmed that Christ is not truly divine but a created being. (Encyclopedia Britannica, 1979, Arianism, Vol. I, p.509) "Arianism: Up to this point the Trinitarian debate had taken place entirely in the West. We now move to the East, where the debate became a great controversy. It lasted sixty years, involved the entire eastern church, the western church in part, and occupied the attention of eleven emperors. The long discussion began with Arius, a presbyter in the church in Alexandria. He was a disciple of Lucian, who in turn was a student of Paul of Samosata, bishop of Antioch from 260 to 272. Paul was an Adoptionist (Dynamic Monarchian). He taught that the Logos or Reason of God dwelt in the man Jesus. This Logos had also been in Moses and in the prophets; in Jesus, ... ...

... The false doctrine of the "measures of the Holy Spirit" is also the foundation upon which the false personal non-miraculous indwelling of the Holy Spirit rests. ii.
