451: The Incarnation of God, the Son: Jesus Christ
... In a perfect example of "Domino Theology" Unitarians historically first rejected eternal conscious torment in Hell, then second, conscious life after death, which finally forced them to make Jesus into a creature and strip Him of deity. Indeed, how could a divine Jesus-creator God cease to exist during the three days he was dead. But Jesus certainly saw and likely even talked with the thief on the cross during Jesus' three days in paradise (Luke 23:43). On the first day of the week, by Jesus' own divine power, along with the Father and Holy Spirit, Jesus raised himself up from the dead. (Acts 2:32; John 2:19; Rom 1:4). The body of Jesus after the resurrection was identical to His body before the resurrection (Lk 24:36-43; John 20:20, 27; 21:12-14) and he continued in submission to God (Jn 20:17). However, at his ascension after He disappeared in the clouds (Acts 1:9-11), Jesus' divine spirit was "reverse incarnated" back into the body of God and Jesus' prayer was answered to be ... ...

(Augustine, City of God 18.43, 400 AD) God foresaw at the tower of Babel the His word MUST be translated and the Holy Spirit wrote it in such a way so that the original meaning would transcend the translation process. Apostolic fathers viewed scripture as complete and final and that the age of inspiration was ended A conservative, bible believing perspective! God's providence gave us the 27 book New Testament Canon, not the church. God, not men decided the canon. This providence does not mean that church leaders were inspired in their selecting the canon, only that God had his eye on the scriptures the whole time and brought about His will to form the Bible we see ... The Jehovah's Witnesses have their inspired Watchtower Magazine, the Seventh-day Adventists make bold claims that Ellen G. White was inspired, and we tire of the outrageous and reprehensible claims that all the charismatics and Pentecostals make about being directly guided by the Holy Spirit. Roman Catholic and Orthodox leaders view themselves as directly inspired by God. Too bad no one told them the age of inspiration ended with the apostolic age about 100 AD. 2. 455: Who Do You Think Jesus Is?
But Jesus was most interested in what His followers thought so He next asked, "But who do you say that I am?" So we begin this lesson by asking you the reader,"Who do you think Jesus is"? Jesus (God the son) has existed from eternity with God the Father, and God the Holy Spirit. John 1:1,14 says, "In the beginning was the Word (Jesus) and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God...and the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory." Jesus made ... Yet, even when Jesus walked the earth in a human body, He was fully divine, "For in Christ all the fullness of deity dwells in bodily form" (Col 2:9). 456: Lamson, Alvan: The Church of the First Three Centuries
The watchtower gives the false impression that Lamson is saying that the Ante-Nicene Fathers didn't teach trinity. The key phrase at the beginning of the quote is "The modern popular doctrine of the Trinity ... derives no support ... from Justin..." Well Trinitarians actually agree! The developed 12th century "Athanasius creed" version of trinity doctrine is not found in scripture, but that is not the issue. What is important is that Justin and all most of the Ante-Nicene Fathers clearly taught that Jesus was uncreated God and the Holy Spirit was a person, being the third person in the trinity. This is taught both in scripture and the Ante-Nicene Fathers! Another quote from Lamson's book "The doctrine of the Trinity was of gradual and comparatively late formation; . . . it had its origin in a source entirely foreign from that of the Jewish and Christian Scriptures; . . . it grew up, and was ingrafted on Christianity, through the hands of the Platonizing Fathers." The fact that the term "sons of God" is used 5 times in the Old Testament of created, non-divine beings, proves that when Jesus applied the term to Himself, he was claiming equality with God and divinity itself! Matthew got the prophecy directly from the Holy Spirit. Inspiration means that the prophecy did not come by an act of human will. We are offended that anyone would suggest the authors of the Bible rely upon human records and not the Holy Spirit. "no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. (2 Pet 1:20-21) Catholic and Orthodox defenders must contradict the traditional interpretation of the Fathers (Jerome) of Mt 2:23 and their own theologians. They are therefore violating the very principle of oral tradition and the "authority of the church" to interpret scripture, that they are trying to prove. Such an argument is as dishonest as it is self-defeating. Jerome says that Isa 11:1 is the Old Testament prophecy: "Once more it is written in the pages of the same evangelist, "And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene." 460: Girdlestone, Robert Baker: Synonyms of the Old Testament
Perhaps the idea unfolded in the plural form Elohim may be expressed more accurately by the word Godhead or Deity than by the word God; and there is certainly nothing unreasonable in the supposition that the name of the Deity was given to man in this form, so as to prepare him for the truth that in the unity of the Godhead there are Three Persons. As long as the passage above quoted stands on the first page of the Bible, the believer in the Trinity has a right to turn to it as a proof that Plurality in the Godhead is a very different thing from Polytheism, and as an indication that the frequent assertions of the Divine Unity are not inconsistent with the belief that the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Ghost is God. (Synonyms of the Old Testament, Oxford scholar Robert Baker Girdlestone, p22) Comment: It is strange that JW's would quote this to prove that "let US make man" means plural of majesty, when their official view is that God was merely talking to the angels. The Watchtower and Awake magazines originate with and are treated as equal to the Bible. They deny the that God consists of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. ... Although the language of the Old Testament appears like God literally indwells the cloud, tabernacle and Temple, it was metaphoric and symbolic because "heaven and earth cannot contain God" much less a tiny building. b. Although the language of the New Testament appears like the Holy Spirit literally indwells the human body, like the antitypical Old Testament cloud and temple, it is metaphoric and symbolic. 7. For the Christian, the indwelling is a metaphor for God's fellowship: God's ears, eyes, heart and name were there: 1 Kings 9:3; 2 Chron 6:18-20; 39-40; 7:15-16 a. Ears: prayer b. Eyes: providential protection c. Heart: love, compassion, grace d. Name: "Christian" 8. Christians take their "inner room" with them everywhere and it entered when they close their eyes: a. After the Christian Diaspora of Acts 8:4 and Paul's subsequent success in establishing church in the Greek world on his missionary journeys, he appointed a plurality of married Christian men with believing children, who met stringent spiritual and moral qualifications: 1 Tim 3; Tit 1. 2. It is important to understand the backdrop of the qualifications of elders in the Christian church in relationship to Temple worship. a. Temple worship was strictly blood and DNA determined and totally ignored any moral, social or experiential qualifications. b. While synagogues, through God's providence, were prototypes of the church in organization, God wanted to ensure an ultra high quality of leadership based upon faith, family history, marriage status, town reputation and morals. c. The Holy Spirit gave two detailed lists in the New testament of the qualifications of church overseers: i. A conservative, bible believing perspective! God's providence gave us the 27 book New Testament Canon, not the church. God, not men decided the canon. He once caused His Son to be born of a virgin, and Jesus performed numerous miracles ranging from feeding the hungry to raising the dead. None of these miracles are being witnessed in our time. To say that they are not is not to entertain doubts or define limits of divine power. It is merely to raise the question of what His will is for our day. They say the Bible we have in our hands is vastly different from the original one 2000 years ago. Such charges are not based upon fact but are an irresponsible and deceptive slur against Gods Holy word. The Dead Sea scrolls, were written about 100 BC. They contained copies of and quotations from many Old Testament books. When they were discovered about 50 years ago, Bible students were anxious to see if the text of Isaiah, for example, had changed in 2000 years. To their delight, the Dead Sea Scrolls confirmed the accuracy of our modern Bibles and muzzled the skeptics. The Holy Spirit compared the Bible to imperishable seed, "You have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and abiding word of God. For, 'All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls off, but the word of the Lord abides forever.' 485: Watchtower Deceptions: Confusing Modalism as if it were trinity ...
... The Doctrine of the Trinity Defined The main section of LF to be looked at is titled "Is God Jesus or a Trinity?" The first paragraph states, "According to the teaching of the Trinity, there are three distinct persons, that is, there is one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit" (p.39). This definition is basically a correct articulation of the Trinity doctrine. So the WT obviously knows that the doctrine teaches the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are three distinct Persons. But on the same page is a picture of Jesus praying. The caption under the picture reads, "Since Jesus prayed to God, asking that God's will, not his be done, the two could not be the same person." Within the text, Jesus' prayer in Gesthsemane is quoted, "Let not MY will, but YOURS take place" (Luke 22:42; emphasis in original quote). LF then asks, "if Jesus were the Almighty God, he would not have prayed to himself, would he?" Please take careful note of the switch that has been made. The statement of the caption and the ... ...

491: How to Pray Acceptably
God answers prayers of those who know, obey, and keep his commands. "If you ask, keep my commandments" (John 14:14,15; I John 3:22). Christ, himself, is an example of this (John 8:29). Without faith we cannot acceptably approach God in prayer (Mark 11:22-24; Hebrews 11:6; James 1:6). An unforgiving spirit can erase the power of prayer (Matthew 6:14,15). Though not commanded as essential, fasting is often associated with prayer (Psalms 35: 13; Daniel 9:3; Matthew 9:15; Acts 10:30; 13:3; 14:23; I Corinthians 7:5). Jesus told us to be ... We must live in union with him (John 15: 7). The entire godhead is involved in our prayers. Our petitions are to the Father (Matthew 6: 9), through the name of Christ, who is our mediator (I Timothy 2: 5; Acts 4: 12), and with the help of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8: 26). Just as baptism is in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, so expressing in Jesus name would indicate unity of godhead (Matthew 8: 19). Prayer should never take the place of ... ...
