355: Have you been Baptized with The Wrong Baptism?
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned". (This statement is found in the sixteenth Chapter of Mark, verses 15 and 16.) You will note that Jesus made believing a condition of baptism. Prior to Scriptural baptism one must be old enough to be taught the gospel and convinced enough to believe it. Obviously this rules out baby baptism since infants cannot meet the believing condition of baptism imposed by Jesus. Take the question: What is baptism? Again, the Bible is clear. Paul, one of Christ's authorized spokesmen, wrote a letter to the church in ancient Rome, the sixth book of the New Testament, commonly called Romans. In it he said, "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death; that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life". For this reason alone we must reject Har Karkom as the location of Mt. Sinai. Emmanuel Anati's proposals must be rejected because it contradicts the Bible. Israel's "40 years in the wilderness" was not inside the promise land. Others believe Karkom is Kadesh Barnea, but again, neither Kadesh or Mt. We believe that human creeds, catechisms and statements of faith cause religious divisions because they compete with the authority of the Bible and cloud people's ability to clearly see what the Bible actually says. Churches are not divided over what is in the Bible, but what is not in the Bible. Jesus likened the Bible to the seed in the parable of the sower. We believe that if anyone plants the pure seed of the word of God, that the seed will produce exactly the same "first century church" every time. We are determined to be simply Christians. We have no ambition to be anything more and we cannot be content to be anything less. For this reason, we are not interested in man-made church doctrines but only in the New Testament blueprint. We all understand it was a textual gloss of the worse kind: Adding to the word of God something that is factually untrue. The Septuagint translators added the words, "of Arabia" because the maps of Herodotus, Hecataeus, Hesiod and Hecataeus that they had before them were wrong. We couldn't find an English Bible that adds the words, "of Arabia" proving that modern translators reject it. The Massoretic Hebrew text of the Old Testament (1000 AD) does not add the words "of Arabia". The Romans renamed the Sinai Peninsula "Arabia" only after 106 AD. "The degree of correspondence between the Septuagint and the Hebrew Masoretic text varies greatly. In Genesis, the correspondence is usually very close. In Job, not so close. There are many places where the Septuagint departs from the Hebrew far more dramatically than in Gen. 45:10 & 46:34.
