351: Have you been Baptized with The Wrong Baptism?
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned". (This statement is found in the sixteenth Chapter of Mark, verses 15 and 16.) You will note that Jesus made believing a condition of baptism. Prior to Scriptural baptism one must be old enough to be taught the gospel and convinced enough to believe it. Obviously this rules out baby baptism since infants cannot meet the believing condition of baptism imposed by Jesus. Take the question: What is baptism? Again, the Bible is clear. Paul, one of Christ's authorized spokesmen, wrote a letter to the church in ancient Rome, the sixth book of the New Testament, commonly called Romans. In it he said, "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death; that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life". (See the sixth Chapter of Romans, verse 4). Please observe that Bible baptism involves a burial and a resurrection. Hence, we ... ...

352: Welcome to the Hamilton church of Christ, in Ontario Canada
Jesus likened the Bible to seed in the parable of the sower. We believe that if anyone plants the pure seed of the word of God, that it will produce exactly the same first century church every time. We are determined to be simply Christians. We have no ambition to be anything more and we cannot be content to be anything less. For this reason, we are not interested in man-made church doctrines but only in the New Testament blueprint. With the Bible as our only guide, we seek to find what that original church was like and restore it exactly. Our way of life The Bible contains a complete blueprint or pattern for how we should live our lives. Many think the Bible is an outdated book unable to provide answers for today's modern world. Yet within the Bible there is a wealth of timeless information on every vital subject for personal happiness. The basic needs of men have not changed. Learning from the example of the life of Jesus. Asking questions about the purpose of life and finding ... ...

361: Differences between three different types or Mormons
This is deleted from all books of Doctrine and Covenants, which was first published in 1835, two years after publication of the Book of Commandments! By this time, the church's name was changed, which church was organized according to, or, "by the will and commandments of God", and into this same section (Utah D&C 20; RLDS D&C 17) was introduced a first presidency, high priest, etc. The Book of Commandments, chapter 24 (this same revelation), does not contain these offices. Many changes were made in the revelations to support offices not originally provided for, and these were introduced by men-not God! be given equal status with the Bible. The Mennonite Brethren Church is historically and theologically rooted in evangelical Mennonite-Anabaptism of the sixteenth century Reformation which sought to recapture the faith and life of the New Testament church. Our forefathers agreed with Menno Simons, after whom Mennonites are named, that "No other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ" (1 Cor. 3:11). Numerous confessions in the Anabaptist tradition were used in the preparation of the first Mennonite Brethren Confession of Faith. A confession such as this one is an expression of the biblical ideals of the brotherhood, revised from time to time, reflecting the faith which such a fellowship believes and preaches. Its validity depends on its biblical character; its usefulness depends on its ability to communicate our understanding of the biblical message. 365: 4 Essential Truths that are required for someone to convert!
At first, do not dwell on specific false doctrines taught by these churches. Rather, show that the creed book is used as doctrinal authority in addition to the Bible. Do this by confronting the student with the teachings found in the creed book used by his/her own church. Show that the creed book teaches things foreign to the Bible. Let me illustrate by two examples. A. The Discipline of The Methodist Church (1960) First, from the Discipline read the following: We have therefore expected that the discipline would be administered, not merely as a legal document, but as a revelation of the Holy Spirit working in and through our people. Then ask, Does the Methodist church use the Bible only? Second, read the following: Wherefore that we are justified by faith only is a most wholesome doctrine and very full of comfort. Insanity is not Demon possession! more In 1775 AD, Hugh Farmer, church minister, correctly taught that demon possession never caused insanity. Farmer would not "ascribe madness and epileptic fits to possession, rather than other disorders". The Bible does teach demon possession during the apostolic age, but oddly, he Farmer did not believe the devil or demons even existed. ... It seems he may have been strongly influenced by William Battie and John Monro, who took the same view. What is important to point out, is that he correctly rejected the idea that insanity was caused by supernatural demon possession. In this regard, he was orthodox among his fellow church preachers. In the book of Acts we read, "Repent you therefore, and be converted that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19). The change in a person's life resulting in his becoming a Christian is called in the Bible, conversion, and the Bible teaches that conversion is necessary for a person to be saved.
