451: Fortman, Edmund: The Triune God
Watchtower Deception exposed Although they identify Fortman as a Catholic, they project the false impression that Fortman either rejects trinity, or that he is willing to accept trinity without any Bible support for the doctrine. The Watchtower is a master at "the slight of hand" technique in quoting from orthodox trinitarian sources. Documentation of selective ... Convinced that this doctrine is a Christian doctrine that did and could originate only from divine revelation. I start the study from the authentic record of divine revelation that is found in the sacred writings of the Old and New Testaments. What does the Old Testament tell us of God? It tells us there is one God, a wonderful God of life and love and righteousness and power and glory and mystery, who is the creator and lord of the whole universe, who is intensely concerned with the tiny people of Israel. It tells us of His Word, Wisdom. Spirit, of the Messiah He will send, of a Son of Man and a Suffering Servant to come. But ... ...

452: What Must I Do To Be Saved ?
The change in a person's life resulting in his becoming a Christian is called in the Bible, conversion, and the Bible teaches that conversion is necessary for a person to be saved. Christ likened this change to a birth and taught Nicodemus, "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God" (John 3:5). Of the 27 books comprising the New Testament, there is one book which is particularly helpful in understanding the nature of conversion. This book is Acts of the Apostles which tells of the conversions of many different people. In Chapters 2, 8, 9, 10, 11, 16, 18, and 22 are 8 key examples of conversion and from these examples certain universal principles of conversion can be understood. First, conversion is dependent upon the acceptance of the Word of God by the sinner. Jesus said, "The seed is the Word", and conversions mentioned in the book of Acts bear out the necessity of both the presentation of God's word to the sinner and his acceptance of ... ...

457: Scientific evidences of the Bible's inspiration
If the Bible came from the mouth of God, then the scriptures are believable when they speak of Jesus Christ and accurate when they touch the realm of science. All scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work . We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men supernaturally inspired; that it has truth without any admixture of error for its matter; and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of the age, the only complete and final revelation of the will of God to man; the true center of Christian union and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried. 1. 464: Lesson 5: Acceptable And Unacceptable Worship
God has shown, in the Bible, His approval with those who follow His will and His displeasure and wrath with those who refuse to worship Him the way He has directed. An example of acceptable and unacceptable worship in the Old Testament is that of Cain and Abel. Cain and Abel both worshipped God. Abel did as God directed, but Cain tried to worship God the way he saw fit. We read in Genesis 4:3-5, "And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of fruit of the ground to the Lord. Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering, but He did not respect Cain and his offering." Why did the Lord have respect for Abel's offering and why did He reject Cain's offering? Hebrews 11:4 tells us, "By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain." Notice Abel offered his sacrifice "by faith" but Cain did not. Romans 10:17 says, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." So ... ...

466: What is Bible Repentance?
What is Bible Repentance? Repentance is the act of changing one's mind. Webster defines the word as "to feel sorry for or reproachful for what one has done or has not done". Webster also gives the definition as to feel such regret and dissatisfaction over some past action or intention as to change one's mind about it or to change one's way. Repentance involves changing one's affections - from earthly things to heavenly things. It involves turning to the living God from a god of self. It is looking unto Christ instead of looking unto another. Repentance requires the right attitude towards sin. This is Godly sorrow. ... David tried to conceal his sin, but God exposed it. The story is told in Numbers Chapter 32, verse 23. We even know about David's sin today. Concealing sin is like trying to cover up spilled seed in order to hide it. The seed comes up and is exposed. Repentance must be followed by works proving that change. In Acts Chapter 19, verse 19, the repentance was evidenced in the ... ...

467: Dancing and the Bible: Is it OK?
Dancing and the Bible: Is it OK? The word "dancing" has a rather broad meaning, which may include such simple activity as the expression of feelings of joy and enthusiasm, or the more involved routing and movement of one skilled in interpreting and arousing powerful emotions. Numerous Old Testament instances of dancing being approved can be cited; however, a study of these accounts will reveal that each involved an expression of rejoicing or religious enthusiasm because of some victory or accomplishment. Such is the situation as Miriam led the women "with timbrels and dances" (Exodus 15:20), after the deliverance from Egyptian bondage, or Jepthah's daughter greeting him with "timbrels and dances" after a great victory (Judges 11:34). David's thanksgiving for the safe return of the ark of God was evidenced as he "danced before Jehovah with all his might" (II Samuel 6:14). Similar use of the term "dancing" is made by the Psalmist to express joy and praise unto Jehovah God. Since the ... ...

... Development of Trinitarian Doctrine. Exegetes and theologians today are in agreement that the Hebrew Bible does not contain a doctrine of the Trinity, even though it was customary in past dogmatic tracts on the Trinity to cite texts like Genesis 1:26, "Let us make humanity in our image, after our likeness" (see also Gn. 3:22, 11:7; Is. 6:23) as proof of plurality in God. Although the Hebrew Bible depicts God as the father of Israel and employs personifications of God such as Word (davar), Spirit (ruah), Wisdom (hokhmah), and Presence (shekhinah), it would go beyond the intention and spirit of the Old Testament to correlate these notions with later trinitarian doctrine. Further, exegetes and theologians agree that the New Testament also does not contain an explicit doctrine of the Trinity. God the Father is source of all that is (Pantokrator) and also the father of Jesus Christ; "Father" is not a title for the first person of the Trinity but a synonym for God. 471: Why Are There Different Versions Of The Bible???
Yes there are many denominations, but don't blame that on the fact there are many versions of the Bible. There is one Bible. First we need to understand what we mean by a "version". A better word than "version" is "translation". The Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew and the New Testament in Greek. If every man could read Hebrew and Greek, then we would have no need for an "English version". Most people can't read Greek, "It's all Greek to me"! We must rely, therefore, upon men who are fully fluent in English and Greek. These "scholars" read the original Greek Bible and come up with an English equivalent. This process is called translation. We have all seen a foreign diplomat give a news conference through the help of a translator. One translator may choose different words or sentences, but the message is identical. Translation is a reliable science of communicating between different languages. Remember, it was God Himself who created all the language barriers in Genesis 11 ... ...

This must damage their ability to have faith in the one true God who really does exist. No wonder adults usually visualize God as a kind old man and Jesus as baby in a Christmas nativity scene. This is how they were taught about God and Jesus as children. Since Christmas is not found in the Bible, I believe parents would be well advised to participate in Santa-Claus as a game. The Watchtower takes little bits of McKenzie's comments on Jn 1:1 (a god) and leaves the false impression in the mind of the reader that McKenzie agreed with the JW's mistranslation. What is clear, is that when McKenzie says Jesus is a divine being, he is saying that Jesus is in that unique class of divine being with the Father and the Holy Spirit, to the exclusion of all others. 480: The Madaba map (mosaic floor) 542 AD St. George's Orthodox church ...
About 700 AD the Muslims under the Umayyad Dynasty, were offended by the fact that the mosaic portrays Jesus as God's Son and that Jesus is seen walking on water and asking Peter to get out of the fishing boat to join him. So, like their modern Muslim archeological counterparts who excavate the Temple mount with a bull dozer and grind 2000 year old artifacts into gravel for the roads, they defaced the mosaic where it shows Islam to be an apostate religion. (i.e. Jesus is the Son of God) Of course it is odd that this event is portrayed on the Dead Sea where no one fished, especially since the actual story happened in the Sea of Galilee. But this is a devotional map for worship. The map is famous because it is one of the oldest maps of Bible lands in the world. The Madaba map, is was clearly based upon the "Onomasticon" written by Eusebius in 325 AD, even though it differs at times from it. John was raised in the home of a full time minister for the United Church of Canada. The united church at one time was Canada's largest protestant denomination, but is slated for extinction in the year 2021. This dramatic fall from number 1 to non-existent is the result of two factors: The first is the great weekly church attendance drop off from 45% to 9% documented by Reginald Bibby between 1950 - 2009 AD that affected all churches caused by materialism and the weedy soil of the parable of the sower. The second is the well documented departure of the United church of Canada from New Testament Christianity into extreme theological liberalism. The United church currently rejects the Bible as the inspired word of God, most key doctrines in the Bible like: Heaven, Hell, Judgement, the need for personal salvation. 482: What role does the Holy Spirit in my Conversion?
However, the question of how the Spirit affects conversion, whether directly or through an agency, has been, and is still, a controversial matter. A "direct operation" of the Spirit is declared by many. This idea has descended to our age from the old doctrine that man is totally depraved in heart and soul and must have a miraculous spiritual operation to turn him from sin to his Heavenly Father. But the scriptures plainly teach that the Holy Spirit works through the agency of the revealed Word of God! Still, while proclaiming that the manner of the Spirit's working in the Christian age is through the power of the Word, ... If the Holy Spirit operates in a direct way, apart from the Word, why are there no Christians in some countries? If the Holy Spirit operates directly on some, and not on others, God becomes a respecter of persons. The Bible, however, says that he is not (Acts 10:34-35).
