251: Lesson 20: Infants Are Not Lost
... Here we see the condition that must be met before a person can be baptized is that he must believe with all his heart. Can an infant do this? No. In Acts 2:38 (KJV) the apostle Peter told a group of people, who had asked what they should do, to "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins." What is the requirement found here that we must do before we can be baptized? Repent. Can an infant repent? It would be absurd to think that an infant could believe or repent, but it is just as absurd to think that an innocent infant, who is without sin, must be baptized for the forgiveness of sins, which he does not have. Satan has many ways in fooling people into being lost. The lie that Satan tells here to people who have become accountable is that since you were baptized as an infant, you do not need to be baptized for the remission of your sins now that you have become accountable and responsible. Satan knows that infant baptism ... ...

252: Lesson 22: The Lord's Church
There is one other thing that concerns our salvation that I would like for us to look at in the Bible. In response to Peter's confession to Jesus in Matthew 16:16 that, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God". Jesus then says in Matthew 16:18, "On this rock I will build My ... So if there is only one body and the one body is the church, then there can only be one church that belongs to the Lord. In Colossians 1:18 in speaking of Christ, we read, "And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things He may have the preeminence." Here again we see that the body (singular) is the church (singular). Again the Bible tells us that the Lord has only one church. We also see that in all things Christ is to have the preeminence. For Christ to have the preeminence in all things, we must follow Christ in all things and not follow man. If we follow men in some things then Christ does not have the preeminence in all things. ... ...

253: Lesson 24: The Lord's Church
We are warned in Colossians 2:8, "Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ." It would be a tragedy to find out on Judgment Day we have been cheated of our eternal reward in heaven because we followed the doctrines of men; but it will be too late then. II Thessalonians 1:12 tells us "That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ." Jesus Christ is to be glorified and honored in us. Besides doing all that he tells us to do, we glorify the name of Christ by wearing the name "Christian". I Peter 4:16 says, "Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this matter." It is an honor to wear the name "Christian." In wearing this name we are glorifying God and Christ. We should not be ashamed to wear the name "Christian", yet ... ...

254: Lesson 9: Doing God's Will
Do we really know what the will of the Father is so that we can be sure of going to heaven? This is too important a matter to assume that we do or to take someone else's word for it. Do we really know what the Bible says that God wants us to do to be saved? What must I do to be saved? This is a very important question. Many people would answer this question in many different ways. The Bible is the only reliable place we can go for our answer, since it is our soul that will be lost if we follow man's advise. Our obedience to Christ is a very serious decision and must not be taken lightly. It must be on the Lord's terms as laid out in the scriptures and not on our terms. We have already seen in Matthew 7:13-14, 21, only few will be saved, and many will be lost, and only those who do the will of the Father can go to heaven. We must do all of God's will, so that we can go to heaven. There is no other way. No single condition, that God imposes, can be ignored. God has no non-essential ... ...

Romans 6:4 says, "Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death." Here we see that baptism is a burial, which is what is done when one is immersed. Sprinkling is not a burial; it is only sprinkling. Neither is pouring a burial. Both are unlawful substitutions made by man which will cause many people to be lost. Colossians 2:12 says that we are "buried with him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him." Here again God requires the one being baptized, to be buried and raised ... ...

262: What is Bible Grace?
A failure to understand the grace of God with regard to the salvation of man has been fatal to many persons. There are those who believe that God in His mercy and grace will not permit anyone to be lost; consequently, they feel no need for seeking salvation. It is true that the most joyous thought a convicted sinner can have is that God has offered to give him salvation. It is necessary, however, for us to understand just how one is saved by the grace of God. By definition, grace is unmerited favor. God looked upon man as he had sinned and as he was with out hope in the world. Although man did not deserve it, God formulated a plan whereby man could be saved from his lost condition. Jesus expressed this in these words, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John, Chapter 3, verse 16). Thus, man has access to the grace of God through Jesus Christ. In Romans, Chapter 5, verses 1,2, the ... ...

267: The 7 Promises Of God to Man
The Apostle Paul, in writing about the promises of God to Abraham, addressed the church at Rome with these words: "For the promise that he should be heir of the world, was not to Abraham or his seed through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith . . . therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed" (Romans 4:13, 16). God's promise to Abraham was first spelled out in Genesis Chapter 12. It was repeated in Chapter 22. Verse 18 reads: "And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice". Now a promise is of no more value than is the ability of the one who makes it to carry through. It also includes willingness to do so. God did carry through with Abraham. Paul points out in Galatians 3:16, that it was through Christ God intended to fulfill the promise to Abraham. Also in Acts 13:32-33, the Apostle says: "And we declare unto you glad tidings how that the promise which was made ... ...

In Romans 1:4 Paul said that Christ was "declared to be the Son of God with power..... by the resurrection from the dead". The resurrection from the dead was a conclusive demonstration that Jesus Christ was the Son of the living God. Not only was it that but they regarded the resurrection as conclusive proof that the atoning blood of Jesus Christ had the necessary power to save lost men from their sins. We believe that Jesus Christ, who is God and man, through his atoning, sacrificial death on the cross for our sins and his resurrection, is the only way of salvation; he alone saves us from sin and judgment and purifies us from the contamination of the world caused by sin. We believe that Jesus Christ rose from the dead, ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father. We believe that regeneration is by the work of the Holy Spirit, and that it is necessary if one is to enter the kingdom of God. We believe that God sent his Holy Spirit to empower his church to witness to Jesus to the ends of the earth. We believe that we are made righteous by grace alone, through faith alone. We believe that the Holy ... ...

"And remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore the Lord your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day." (Deut 5:15) Deliverance from bondage of sin: "But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons." (Galatians 4:4-5) "in Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace." (Ephesians 1:7) Notice that Athanasius, in about 345 AD actually stated that that the Sabbath was a memorial of the first creation and that Sunday was a memorial of the new creation in Christ: 345 AD Athanasius "The Sabbath was the end of the first creation, the Lord's day was the beginning of the second, in which he renewed and restored the old in the same way as he prescribed that they should formerly observe ... ...

279: Official creed of the Southern Baptist Church
... V. God's Purpose of Grace Election is the gracious purpose of God, according to which He regenerates, sanctifies, and glorifies sinners. It is consistent with the free agency of man, and comprehends all the means in connection with the end. It is a glorious display of God's sovereign goodness, and is infinitely wise, holy, and unchangeable. It excludes boasting and promotes humility. All true believers endure to the end. Those whom God has accepted in Christ, and sanctified by His Spirit, will never fall away from the State of grace, but shall persevere to the end. Believers may fall into sin through neglect and temptation, whereby they grieve the Spirit, impair their graces and comforts, bring reproach on the cause of Christ, and temporal judgments on themselves, yet they shall be kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation. 282: Are we Saved By Faith Only?
From Colossians Chapter 2, verse 14, we learn that the law of Moses was nailed to the cross of Christ and is no longer bound upon anyone. We know that the only hope for salvation for lost humanity today is through the gospel of Christ. We do not propose to be saved by the works of the law, but through the works of faith and the labor of love in obedience to Christ. While the Bible says: "By the deeds of the law shall no flesh be justified", it also says in James Chapter 2, verse 24: "Ye see then how that by works a man is justified and not by faith only." 'These works then must not be the works of the law, but are the works of faith revealed in the gospel of Christ. The law of Moses is dead and its works mean nothing today, but the works of the gospel mean much. A person is saved by the blood of Christ, through the grace of God. He is not saved by faith alone, but through obedience to the commandments of Christ. Jesus became "the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey ... ...

287: 5 Components of a Growing Church
As parents, we rely too much on educating our physical children through the public school system to the neglect of individual spiritual training in the home. In the church, we do the same with our spiritual babes; we rely upon the church's public school system (weekly sermons and classes) to the neglect of personalized one-on-one training. And we wonder why the few souls we win to Christ soon fall away! If we are indifferent to merely teaching the gospel, how will we ever accomplish the more ... One church centered its evangelistic efforts around great pulpit preaching and only the preacher contacting and teaching non-Christians. The results were poor. The other church focused on the training and equipping of each willing member to contact and teach the gospel to the lost. Results were good, with a steady increase. Clearly, the New Testament example is closer to the latter. If the church is going to grow, we will need to equip the saints for this great and noble work of service. ... ...

God loves each person and doesn't want anyone to spend eternity in hell, but if they reject his offer of grace and forgiveness through the blood of Jesus Christ, his only begotten son, then they have chosen their own eternal destiny. 3. Apostle Peter preached the very first sermon to more than 3000 lost souls and said, "Save yourselves from this perverse generation." (Acts 2:40) When they asked, "What must we do" to be saved, Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins" (Acts 2:37-38) This means that if you want to go to heaven, it all depends on you. 289: Beliefs of the Quakers (Shaking Quakers, Shakers, Friends)
But only Christ Jesus is the Word of God (Rev.19: 13-15) as the Scriptures clearly testify. Christians must study the Holy Scriptures (Jn 5:39). One must be led by the Holy Spirit in order to understand the Scriptures if not then there is the danger to fall into heresy (2 Peter 3:16). The Scriptures were written under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost (2 Pet. 1:20, 21). Of the Light of Christ within: Christ has enlightened every man on earth (Jn. 1:9). This means that all people can if they repent of their sins turn to the Light Jesus Christ and be saved (Jn. 12:25). Those who deny the Light (Jesus Christ) do it because they love sin (Jn 3:20) and are already judged for denying Christ. True Christians must walk in the Light (1 John 1:7). The Light can teach all Christians, which is Jesus Christ teaching through the anointing of the Holy Spirit (1 John 2:27). Of Salvation: We are saved through Faith, the grace of God, (Eph.2: 8, 9, 10). Of Freedom from Sin: Christians are free from sin ... ...
