340: Lesson 4: Our Sin Problem
God says that man has a sin problem, but man says that he does not. Who is right and what are we doing to God when we say that we have no sin? Continuing our reading in I John 1:10, "If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." God is always right when he tells us that we have all sinned. In Romans 6:23 we read, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord". Death is a separation. When we die physically, our body is placed into the grave, but our spirit is separated from our dead body and goes back to God, who gave it. We are told in Ecclesiastes 12:7, "Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it". In physical death, there is a separation between our body and our soul. In Romans 6:23, we saw that, "For the wages of sin is death". This is a spiritual death, which is a separation from God in eternity for those who are lost. Since God is in heaven, and ... ...

345: Lesson 16: Becoming a Child of God
To be a child of God and part of His family, we must be born into His family. Our Lord said in John 3:3, "Unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of heaven." Then He tells us how being born again takes place in John 3:5, "Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." When one is born again by being baptized into Christ he becomes a child of God. We might ask the question, "If I had to prove that I was a child of God in order to get into heaven, could I do it?" Only those who are God's children will inherit heaven. In 1 Peter 1:4 we read "To an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you." Are you eligible for that inheritance? Have you become a child of God by being baptized into Christ? If you haven't then you have no inheritance in heaven. You will inherit eternal punishment. Why would anyone in their right mind not want to be a child of God? Has your faith led you to be baptized, so ... ...

346: Lesson 2: God's Warning
We must take this warning from God at face value. There are only two roads to eternity and we are on one or the other. According to what the Lord says, only few will make it to heaven, but the vast majority will be lost in eternal punishment. This is both frightening and sad. I don't consider myself selfish, but I certainly want to be among the few who are saved, don't you? We make the choice ourselves as to where we will spend eternity. We are free moral agents. This is how we differ from the animals. We have been made in the image of God. Genesis 1:26, "Then God said let Us make man in Our image". Also in Genesis 2:7 we read, "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul". Yes, we posses a soul that will live forever. God does not want anyone to be lost, but the choice is ours. In II Peter 3:9 we read, "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering ... ...

347: Can we fall away? Hebrews says YES!
Question 4: Read these three passages in Hebrews: Hebrews 6:4-6 "For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God, and put Him to open shame." Hebrews 10:26-27 "For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain terrifying expectation of judgment, and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries." Hebrews 10:38-39 "But My righteous one shall live by faith; And if he shrinks back, My soul has no pleasure in him. But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul." Click here for quiz on each verse . . 1. Quiz on Hebrews 6:4-6 "For in the ... ...

348: Holy Spirit: Anti-Trinitarians make God a master ventriloquist ...
We question, however, why God would go to so much trouble to personify his own inherent power to the extent that it has emotions, thoughts and speech INDEPENDANT of Himself. Now we know that Arians would argue that the Holy Spirit never acts independently of the Father, since they are really one and the same thing, but this begs the question. The problem for Arians is to explain why God chose to invent the entire concept of the Holy Spirit at all. Why was it necessary for God to give "electricity" apparent personality, ... Click to View So, we ask, why would God go to all the trouble of inventing and personifying what appears on the surface to be a separate entity speaking? Why not just say "God said" every time, instead of, "The holy Spirit said"? Jn 16:13, Christ relays a message through the Holy Spirit. If the Holy Spirit is not a person this makes the Holy Spirit nothing more than a tape recorder that replays what is said. There are places where the Father and Jesus speak directly to ... ...

Click to View The Sabbath is an Old Testament shadow or anti-type of heaven and was never intended endure past the cross. Another outline to read: Hebrews 4 proves the weekly Sabbath was an anti-type of heaven Click to View Actual Sabbatarian argument: "The Sabbath was given before the fall of Adam and cannot be a shadow because all anti-types and shadows were given after the fall."
