401: Sunday is not the "Christian Sabbath"
... This objection is invalid in light of the fact that all things revealed in the old covenant having to do with the eternal divine principles of decency, right and justice are also given with even greater emphasis in the perfect law, which is the law of liberty, which is the law of Christ. In reading the New Testament, we find that Jesus and his inspired apostles taught all the commandments of the Decalog, with the exception of the fourth commandment, the Sabbath law. There is no command in the covenant of Christ for any man to keep the Sabbath. The only day given special recognition in the new covenant is the first day of the week, commonly called Sunday, referred to in the scriptures as the Lord's Day. This day is not the Christians' Sabbath, as some assert. The Sabbath, whenever mentioned in the scriptures, always without exception, designates the seventh day of the week. Nowhere in the Bible is it affirmed that the first day of the week is given in place of the Sabbath. It is part of ... ...

405: Material Possessions and the Family
The answer to these questions is yes; it is possible, indeed, probable, for we know that our God is a jealous God and wants no other God placed before Him. If we prefer the enjoyment of things ahead of duty to God, we are placing our desires ahead of God. In a sense, then, our goods become our God and receive our time, effort, and worship. We know that this is wrong for we are certain that God is displeased. This is idol worship, a sin about which the Bible speaks often. Also denounced frequently in the Bible is the sin of covetousness, which is the overwhelming desire for material gain. Jesus said in Luke 12:15-31: "take heed, ... 427: What is the 1000 Year Reign of Christ?
Blessed and holy is he that has part in the first resurrection. On such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.' Revelation 20:1-6. In connection with this passage please also read John Chapter 11 , verse 25. Col. 2:12, 3:1, also Romans 6:3-5. The thousand years appears nowhere in the sixty-six books, 1,189 chapters, 31,173 verses of the Bible except in this one passage where it occurs six times in six consecutive verses. It is not solid study to build an entire system of beliefs about the end of the world, and the status of the kingdom on such a highly symbolic passage. More especially when that interpretation conflicts with other plain passages of scripture. In a book that is highly symbolic, we face certain difficulties accepting a theory of a thousand year reign of Jesus on earth, when we consider the total view of the book. There are some things not mentioned in this chapter. First, it does not ... ...

Although sola Scriptura advocates can confidently say the fathers mistakenly viewed such "traditions" as binding, Roman Catholic and Orthodox "tradition advocates" have no choice but to also take them as binding. Yet in theological schizophrenia, they claim the "tradition of the Church Fathers" must be followed, but then refuse to follow the specific traditions that the Church Fathers recorded. 432: Sola Scriptura: Apostolic Fathers Catechism Class for Catholics ...
Answer: When the fathers would refer to "tradition" often they referred to scripture itself! This should not surprise us since the Bible calls scripture "tradition" in 2 Thess 2:15! Furthermore, Athanasius, for example, call scripture tradition: "the Apostolic tradition teaches in the words of blessed Peter, 'Forasmuch then as Christ suffered for us in the Flesh" Athanasius then quotes: 1 Peter 4:1; Titus 2:13; Heb 2:1 (Athanasius, To Adelphius, Letter 60, 6)? So you need not make irresponsible conclusions because of your superficial approach to how the fathers used the word "tradition".
