A Word About Expository Files
Expository Files is a unique electronic publishing effort, designed to further the exposition of Scripture.
We
are not in the business of providing sermons for preachers, though we
understand our content may help preachers prepare for sermons. Articles
and sermons are not the same, though both should convey Biblical
content, both should challenge readers/hearers to make commitments and
both can find audience miles from their original propagation. Sermons
constitute a better
opportunity for application, challenge,
exhortation and invitation. Expository Files articles are more
about the exposition of text of Scripture for learning and good use by
the readers. Through the Bible.ca server, we are also building a huge
archive of Bible studies for easy access and future use.
If you
hear a preacher say he got a sermon from Expository Files, that may not
be so good. Jon and I are both preachers, and we spend a great deal of
time in study, reading, organizing and polishing sermons for delivery.
Getting sermons from the Internet is something we discourage. You may
learn something from Expository Files; you may find good sermon
outlines on the
Internet, but don't let digital resources become a substitute for study.
"Take
heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing
this you will save both yourself and those who hear you," (1 Tim. 4:16).
