God Is Always
Another year is drawing to a close. The Bible says, “To everything there is a
season and a time to every purpose under heaven…” (Eccl. 3:1). We live in a
world of constant change. Time changes everything we can see and touch. The
state of the world is different that what it was a decade ago. .. much
different from what it was a century ago. What will it be like ten years from
now?
Societies change. Dynasties and empires come and go. We are accustomed to
seeing things change, and it seems as if everything is only temporary, but
that is not the case at all. We are linked to Abraham and Moses; Deborah,
David and Paul by one constant. Though we live in a different time, under a
different government and on a different continent, we either build or fail to
build our relationship with the very same God as these ancient men and women
did.
The Scriptures affirm of God, “Of old Thou didst found the earth; and the
heavens are the work of Thy hands. Even they all perish… but Thou art the
same, and Thy years will not come to an end.” (Psa. 102:25-27).
Children have sometimes asked the question: “Who made God?” The answer is that
God did not need to be “made” because there has never been a time in which he
did not already exist! He will never cease to be. He is deserving of our trust
because “the eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting
arms” (Deut. 33:27).
