What The Resurrection Of Christ Means
“Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain
other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had
prepared. But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. Then they went in
and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. And it happened, as they were
greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining
garments. Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they
said to them, ‘Why do you seek the living among the dead?’ ‘He is not here, but
is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying,’
The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified,
and the third day rise again. And they remembered His words,” (Lk. 24:1-8).
This means Jesus is who He claims to be.
1Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the
gospel of God 2which He promised before through His prophets in the Holy
Scriptures, 3concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed
of David according to the flesh, 4and declared to be the Son of God with power
according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead. Rom.
1:1-4
This means our salvation is real.
23Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him, 24but
also for us. It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus
our Lord from the dead, 25who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was
raised because of our justification. Rom. 4:23-25
This means God’s enemies labored in vain.
13And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh,
He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses,
14having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which
was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the
cross. 15Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle
of them, triumphing over them in it. Col. 2:13-15
This means, our faith is not futile.
12Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some
among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13But if there is no
resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. 14And if Christ is not
risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. 15Yes, and we
are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He
raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up—if in fact the dead do not rise.
16For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. 17And if Christ is not
risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! 18Then also those who
have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19If in this life only we have hope
in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. 1 Cor. 15:12-19
This means eventual judgment is certain.
30Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men
everywhere to repent, 31because He has appointed a day on which He will judge
the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given
assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead. Acts 17:30-31
This means we will be raised.
14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with
Him those who sleep in Jesus. 1 Thess. 4:14
This means we serve a living master.
36“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this
Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ. Acts 2:36
This means when a genuine conversion takes place,
God is active, applying the same power to raise the sinner from sin to life.
1And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2in which you once
walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the
power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3among
whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling
the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath,
just as the others.
4But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved
us, 5even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ
(by grace you have been saved), 6and raised us up together, and made us sit
together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7that in the ages to come He
might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ
Jesus. Eph. 2:1-7
